$Field seems to be a solution

Looking through the design of the new mail template, I found that the "Show Images" link is on the (FollowUpMemoSubform) subform. The code indicates that a field named $DelayedImagesOK set to the value "ok" would display the inline images. I haven't tried this yet myself, but it seems logical. In the mail template, this field is set using the ShowDelayedImages sub, in the DelayedImages script library.

It would seem that the field is initially set to the number 23. When the link is clicked, the field is removed and re-added with the value of "ok".
